Eraser and Knife Tool in CorelDRAW

The Eraser tool

The Eraser Tool remove the part of an object. When you use eraser on an object its divided in to tow section but these two section are still combined into one object.

For example

Open a new document in coreldraw.

Now Draw Box with with the help of rectangular tool and fill with any color.

Select the Rectangular object.

Select The Eraser tool from Tool box by clicking on shape tool hold down the for movement and then select Eraser tool.

In the Tool properties dialog you can set the width of the eraser.

Now apply on the object and draw a line form the middle of the object. The object divided in to two section. Each section have number of node. But over all its an a one object. Click on any section then you can see bathe section are selected.

Knife Tool

Now on On the same document again Draw Box with with the help of rectangular tool and fill with any color.

Now click on Same tool Hold down the mouse for a movement and from the Fly out select the Knife Tool.

Notice the cursor looks like an graphic artist's knife.

Now apply this tool is same way as you apply with eraser tool.

Again you see that your rectangular object divided in to two segment. But this time when you click on one segment then its only select the segment on that you click.

Its means that Eraser tool although cut the object but object remain as single object on the other hand knife tool cut the object in to two physical segment and both segment treat as single object.

Basically Eraser tool erase the aria where you move the eraser tool and knife cut down the object in to two segment.
